Kagiroi offers a chance for customers to experience Yokosuka's vegetables with their menu based on fresh ingredients.
Mr. Matsuda was born and raised in Yokosuka, and so he wanted more people both locally and from other regions to learn about the ingredients found in Yokosuka.
However, since starting his restaurant, he says he often finds himself being the one learning. He realized a large number of things through communicating daily with farmers and fishers during his search for ingredients.
Ingredients born from the land, and a menu born from connections between people
Mr. Matsuda says he never struggled with coming up with his menu.。
He naturally receives tips such as "This goes great with pasta", "This vegetable is amazing when fried" from interacting with other chefs and local farmers. Those tips and bits of information are what form his menu
Kagiroi is much like Yokosuka in and of itself, in that it finds creative hints in the connections between people and offers local ingredients straight from the land on its menu.
Today too, Mr. Matsuda continues to face Yokosuka and provide customers with an opportunity to experience its charm.

The owner, Kazuki Matsuda, has been operating the restaurant for 17 years.
This restaurant feels like home, a place you can relax. That being said, it's lined with beautiful antique accessories, tableware, cooking utensils, and more.It has a cluttered feeling while also being clean.
It features a carefully selected menu using locally produced ingredients from the Yokosuka and Miura Peninsula area. The menu is handwritten on a large blackboard which really catches your eye. Depending on what's available, the menu changes daily.
Mr. Matsuda is said to make rounds to local farms and fishing ports nearly every day himself. He was kind enough to share his feelings for Yokosuka with us.
